What this site is

kundalimatching.io is a free kundali matching tool. Enter two sets of birth details and it returns the classical Ashtakoota reading: a score out of 36 gunas, the points each of the eight kootas contributed and why, and a check for Nadi and Bhakoot dosha.

There is no account to create, no payment, and no astrologer waiting at the end of the result to sell you a consultation. That last point is deliberate. Most kundali matching tools online exist to route you into a paid reading, which quietly shapes how the result is presented. Ours does not, so it does not.

How the calculation works

Everything starts with the position of the Moon at each birth. We compute the Moon's apparent geocentric longitude using the truncated ELP-2000/82 lunar series published in Jean Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms, which is accurate to around ten arcseconds — far finer than the 13°20' span of a nakshatra.

That tropical longitude is converted to the sidereal zodiac using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard adopted by the Indian government's calendar reform committee. From the sidereal longitude we take the rashi, the nakshatra and the pada, and the eight kootas are then scored against the classical tables: the 14×14 Yoni matrix, the planetary friendship table for Graha Maitri, the Gana table, and the standard Varna, Vashya, Tara, Bhakoot and Nadi rules.

The entire calculation runs in your browser. Birth details are never sent to a server, never stored and never logged — there is no server-side component to send them to.

What we do not claim

• This is not a prediction. Guna Milan is a classical compatibility framework, not a forecast, and we present it as the tradition does.
• Mangal Dosha needs a birth time and place. Manglik status depends on where Mars sits relative to the ascendant, which moves a degree every four minutes. We assess it on the full match, and leave it out — saying so — on the date-of-birth and name-based matches rather than approximating.
• This is the northern system only. South Indian Dashakoota and the ten Poruthams work differently and are not covered here.
• A score is not a decision. No number from this site should settle a question about a marriage on its own.
